TIA/TAA Reunion 2023

Hi Everyone!

The importance of information first.

Date: October 7, 2023

Time: 1100-1630 (so we have time for clean-up)

Place: Beeb’s Bar and Grill
915 Clubhouse Drive
At – Las Positas Golf Course
Livermore, CA 94551

Cost: $60.00 if received before September 12, 2023
$75.00 if received after September 12, 2023
If you only want to join the party, but not eat it will still cost you $35.00.
Why? Because even if you don’t eat, we are still having to pay for the room, the servers, table
settings and other staff that are needed for the day. Not to mention the beautiful California
taxes on everything.

We didn’t charge before because the piggy bank was full. After the last two years…well the
piggy is very lean.

As usual, the food will be fantastic. Back by popular demand are the ribs to go with the
chicken, salads, sides of potatoes, pasta and dessert.

Naturally, coffee tea and water will be served. There will be no host bar.

We will once again have a memorabilia display. If you have something to share, be sure to
bring it. There will also be a raffle of unique collectables.

We will have a limited number of mailing lists on hand for sale. If you want to ensure that
you get what you want, you can send us a check
(P.O. Box 688, Livermore, CA 94551) tell us which list(s) you’d like and we will mail them to
you. Printing prices and postage has gone up dramatically for the employee list. Price foe
the C/P and Ground is $7.00 and F/A is $10.00.

UPDATE FOR THE 34th  TRANSAMERICA AIRLINES REUNION

Fellow Former Employees of a Great Airline —-

We had a fabulous day on October 5, 2019 with perfect weather for our  33rd Annual Reunion held at the Clubhouse at Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore, Calif. It was nice to not have to compete for parking with the Livermore Air Show right next door. Though we do love seeing the competitive flying.

Though our attendance was under 100 it offered quality time for visiting and sharing  some of those colorful adventures.  Our Specially Recognized attendees were F/E Jack Wagoner who is 95 years young, and the Most Senior Flight Attendant Donna Giles.

The Reunion Committee has been weighing all of the options for attending this year’s Reunion.  As over 60% of the Reunion Attendees fly-in to Oakland it will be a major challenge this year. With flight schedules restricted and a slow return in the next few months to flight availability we feel the obstacles may be difficult and challenging.  Many cities will not be serviced, and then those that are, will have limited flights per day making connections very difficult if not impossible.  With this being a major problem the Reunion Committee has decided that our best option would be to cancel the 2020 Reunion.

This is unfortunate but necessary as low attendance would seriously impact our viable financial situation. To keep our per person price as it was last year we need to have at least 100 people attending.  We want to continue future Reunions without these challenges we can’t control .  We have received the 2021 Reunion Date.  It will be in the same place as the past 6 years.  SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9,2021, 11 AM – 5 PM. THE CLUBHOUSE AT LAS POSITAS GOLF COURSE, 915 CLUBHOUSE DR, LIVERMORE, CA 94551.  Mark your calendars now the date will not change.

Ticket Price: When you book (that is pay by check only. We do not have a “square” on our phones) the amount is $50. if received by Sep 24th. If not received by Sep 24th then the ticket price is $65. Just like most airline fares when you book early it’s cheaper.

Meal Service Provided: (Unlike other airlines we actually offer a nice Lunch Buffet). Lunch will be served from 12 – 1:30 only. The menu has not yet been finalized with the catering staff, but per the normal prior service with the same company, it will be above average and “Business Class” appropriate.

Entertainment: Will commence at 2:30pm. Door Prizes, and a raffle of assorted treasures. Door Prize ticket and lunch ticket will be given to you when you check-in the day of the Reunion. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the Reunion. Raffle prizes are a surprise, so just wait to see.

Patti,  Catie, and Lois take great effort to maintain an accurate contact data base for all former employees. So remember to go on the web site and register any changes.  We do not share your contact info unless you contact one of us on the committee with a request and we will research that request for you if available.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.

Helen Keller

Saturday, October 4th we celebrated 28 years of the closing of a great airline with great employees.  We returned to the Club House at the Las Positas Golf Course, Livermore Airport, Livermore, California, after a 12 year hiatus. What a classy venue and a step-up from the Harbor Bay Club where we had been for the last 8 years.  The staff at the Club House was terrific as well as the lunch, complete with flat ware, china, and glassware.  Nicer than our first class china I might say.  Only one request for next year – ribs on the menu instead of tri-tip.  It’s done.

We will be having our 29th REUNION at the same place next year and we are already on the calendar for the first Saturday in October 2015, which is OCTOBER 3, 2015. The airshow that was to be held this year the same day as our Reunion was cancelled on short notice due to construction at the airport.  However, we have been assured that next year the Airshow will be on the same day as our Reunion.  A nice added touch.  Ralph Requa was ready for the airshow and flew his Bonanza in from Henderson, Nevada.

Our attendance of 121 employees was a little above last year and after all these years there were some folks here for the first time.  Name tags with large lettering are always a great help.  It was a wonderful warm day of perfect weather, with the beautiful golf course view, conversations and memories shared, laughs, and a few tears all crammed into 5 short hours.

We received notice that morning that Tom Gaston, had died while flying his own airplane on a test run after some maintenance he and his mechanic had completed on his aircraft.  It is always so sad for us to lose another one of our own to the Wings West.  We also were told that pilot Terry Shade had an unfortunate accident while walking his neighbor’s dogs.  He was tripped, fell, and hit his head on concrete.  He sustained a serious head injury and is slowly recovering.  We are sure he would love to hear from his “TIA/TAA family friends“.
